Terms of Use
The agreement between you and us.
Effective 18 August 2026 · Last updated 18 August 2026 · Applies to the LucidLock iPhone app and lucidlock.co
The short version
- LucidLock is a training and journalling tool, not a medical device and not medical advice.
- Recording and training need a subscription. Reading and exporting what you already wrote do not.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you cancel through Apple, not through us.
- What you write is yours. We never receive it, so we claim no rights over it.
- Some techniques deliberately interrupt sleep. Stop if they are costing you rest.

1. Who these terms are with
LucidLock is made and operated by PixelNova LLC ("LucidLock", "we", "us"), registered at 7901 4th St N #19641, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, USA. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the agreement between you and PixelNova LLC covering the LucidLock iPhone app and lucidlock.co.
How we handle information is covered separately, in our Privacy Policy. The short version is that your dream journal stays on your device and we never receive it.
2. Accepting these terms
By downloading, subscribing to, or using LucidLock, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.
If we change these Terms in a way that materially affects you, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and surface the change in the app rather than leaving you to find it here.
3. Who may use LucidLock
LucidLock is rated for users aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use LucidLock only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.
4. Your licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use LucidLock on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. The app is licensed to you, not sold.
The app itself — its code, design, written guidance, training curriculum and the Whisp character — belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute it, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
5. Subscription, billing and renewal
LucidLock offers an auto-renewing subscription, sold in two lengths. The exact title, length and current price are shown on the subscription screen in the app before you are asked to pay, and are the prices that apply, since App Store pricing varies by region and can change over time.
- Recording new dreams and running the training program require an active subscription.
- Reading and exporting entries you have already written do not. If a subscription lapses, you keep access to your own journal.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price and interval unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us. We never receive your card details, Apple Account credentials or billing address. The app asks Apple whether a subscription is currently active, and that is the whole of what we learn.
6. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account subscription settings on your device, under Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms, not by us. We cannot issue, approve or refuse a refund on Apple's behalf. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com. If something has gone wrong, write to us anyway at support@lucidlock.co and we will help where we can.
7. Health and safety
LucidLock is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is an educational and journalling tool. Nothing in the app is a substitute for advice from a qualified health professional.
Some lucid dreaming techniques deliberately interrupt sleep. Waking during the night to rehearse an intention is a real intervention in your rest, and the app treats it as optional for that reason. Practising these techniques can reduce total sleep, fragment sleep, and make experiences such as sleep paralysis or vivid awakenings more likely. These are ordinarily harmless but can be distressing.
Use your judgement, and stop if the practice is costing you sleep. The app is built to let you pause, skip or slow down the program at any time, and doing so is a normal part of using it rather than a failure.
Talk to a doctor before using LucidLock's night-time techniques if you have a sleep disorder such as insomnia, narcolepsy or sleep apnoea; if you have a psychiatric condition, including psychosis, bipolar disorder, or a dissociative disorder; if you are being treated for a condition affected by sleep; or if you operate vehicles or machinery where reduced sleep would put you or others at risk. If the practice worsens your mood, your sleep or your grip on waking reality, stop and seek advice.
LucidLock makes no promise that you will experience a lucid dream. The techniques are drawn from published research, and the app is honest about the strength of that evidence, but results vary widely between people and many people practise for a long time without success.
8. Your content
What you write in LucidLock is yours. You keep all rights to it. We claim no licence over it and could not exercise one if we did, because your entries never reach us: they are stored on your device, and this version of the app sends them nowhere.
Because we hold no copy, we cannot recover your journal if you delete it or lose your device. Keeping a backup is up to you, and Export in Settings exists for exactly that.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use LucidLock to:
- break the law, or help anyone else do so;
- interfere with the app's operation, or attempt to bypass its subscription controls or security;
- decompile or reverse engineer the app, except to the extent that law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
10. Availability and changes
We may add, change or remove features as the app develops. If a change would remove something you are actively relying on, we will say so in the app rather than letting it disappear quietly.
We may stop distributing or supporting LucidLock. If we ever do, we will give reasonable notice in the app so you can export your journal first.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
LucidLock is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular result.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits any consumer rights you have under the law of your country that cannot be waived by agreement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PixelNova LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, arising out of your use of LucidLock.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for LucidLock in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Termination
You can end this agreement at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms, in particular section 9. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including 11, 12 and 15 — do survive it.
14. Apple
These Terms are between you and PixelNova LLC only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for LucidLock or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for LucidLock. Support is ours, at support@lucidlock.co.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and defending any third-party claim that the app infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and the state and federal courts located in Pinellas County, Florida have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you the right to bring proceedings locally and to the protection of mandatory consumer law, this section does not take those rights away from you.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stay in force.
